General Definition of Work
Performs human support work pertaining to the daily operation of the nutrition site. Includes but is not limited to receiving food from caterers, insuring proper numbers of meals are received, inspecting quality and temperature of food, serving congregate meals, and other related work as apparent or assigned by the coordinator. Employee is responsible for assisting in center activity coordination and supervision, social interaction, scheduling and the preparation of required reports. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Center Coordinator.

Essential Functions
Prepares the nutrition site for the day’s meals and activities including, but not limited to, calibrating thermometers, ordering meals and utensils, sanitizing surfaces and setting out supplies before and after; Ensures meals arrive and remain at temperatures in accordance with food service standards.
Manages the daily operations of congregate nutrition program while maintaining clients & records of clients; organizes supplies and registers clients for congregate meals; tracks and reports various data.
Order meals for next day and organizes bus pickup daily.
Meets catering staff; monitors and accepts food delivery based on amount, quantity, and quality based on health and sanitation standards for serving hot and cold foods; discusses concerns and problems with the supervisor.
Assists with insuring that all health and food regulations and standards are met at the site and maintains these standards while meals are served, and in the cleaning of utensils, pans, kitchen, dining room, etc.; participates in cleaning activities.
Cleans up or assures site is clean at the end of the day; sweep, mop, wipe tables, clean utensils, pans, etc. that were used as well as the facility.
Makes referrals for clients who need additional services with appropriate agencies; provides assistance to clients, as needed.
Completes various paperwork including, but not limited to, number of registrants and meals served, total amount of contributions collected and volunteer time records.
Receives calls and handles or refers to appropriate person, organization or county agency.
Assists in coordinating and transporting seniors on agency van for occasional field trips. Coordinate and communicate to transportation provider on a daily basis of seniors who need late transportation.
Must be able to drive center van and work occasional nights and weekends to assist with center activities and programs.
Operates the various office machines and have some computer skills.
Will provide assistance to staff on other department duties when necessary.
Takes and records receipt of money.
Oversee operations in the absence of Senior Center Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of food preparation and service; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms; ability to relate to older adults and demonstrated special interests in the needs and desires of senior citizens; ability to complete reports and records accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, senior citizens, associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking and tasting or smelling, frequently requires lifting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using measuring devices and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

This position requires a variety of tasks, including: welcoming and greeting visitors, providing local and statewide travel and tourism information, routing people to their destinations, discuss points of interest and attractions, administrative duties, answering phones, and related work as apparent or assigned. Assist with completion of standardized records or documents and inquiries including online requests. General knowledge of methods, approaches and procedures in the travel industry, as well as tourist and historical attractions, are a plus. Experienced working in Word and Excel to assist in managing inventory. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Visitor Center Director. The Center is open year-round at a minimum of 6 days a week. A minimum of two weekends per month may be required, including some Sundays seasonally and some holidays. This is a part time position and hours may vary according to the busier tourist seasons. Mobility and standing are a requirement to assist with maintaining brochure inventory and working with customers.
