as an effort to standardize the practice of marking
significant historical sites through-out

Dismal Swamp Canal
The Dismal Swamp Canal completed in 1805 is part of the
Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway that connects the Albemarle
Sound in North Carolina with the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.
