Camden, NC., Friday, April 11, 2008.
At approximately 10:45 a.m. this
morning a brief power fluctuation occurred
at the South Camden Water & Sewer District
Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant in
Camden County, North Carolina damaging the
plant and forcing it to be shut down temporarily.
A valve closed while the production wells
were still in operation resulting in pipe
failure.
It is anticipated the plant will
be repaired and back in service sometime Sunday,
April 13th. In the event
the county water supply is exhausted, the
City of
Elizabeth City has agreed to allow Camden to
purchase
water while the plant is down.
Until further
notice all South Camden Water District
customers (living in the Courthouse Township
and the
Shiloh Township) are strongly
encouraged to limit their water usage to essential
needs and refrain from washing cars, water
lawns,
etc.
