Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry is proud to announce that the Sheriff’s
Office is the proud recipient of two grants. The first grant is from the National
Rifle Association Foundation for $500.00 from the Deputy Safety Equipment
Program. The Sheriff’s Office purchased 12 Gunshot Wound First Aid Kits.
These kits contain the necessary first aid supplies including the new Quick-Clot
powder which is applied to the gunshot wound to stop the bleeding immediately.
These kits will be placed in the patrol vehicles and will be available to
assist not only law enforcement officers but citizens as well.
The second grant is from the Eastern NC Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention
Program for 4 Automated External Defibrillators or AED’s. These AED’s
will be delivered May 19th to the Sheriff’s Office to prepare for
training May 25th and June 1st by the Pasquotank/Camden Emergency Medical
Service. This grant was available to the Sheriff’s Office provided
a $2,000 match was given. The funds were paid by a private donor.
Heart Disease is the number one killer of all Americans. Over 1,000 people
die each day from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The Camden County Sheriff’s
Office along with the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program seeks
to reduce the number of deaths due to SCA. Sheriff Perry states, ‘With
no EMS unit stationed in Camden County, the deputies may just be able to
save someone’s life with the AED while EMS is enroute from Elizabeth
City. The deputies will be trained in the operation of the AED along with
First Aid and CPR, a major plus for the Sheriff’s Office and citizens
of Camden County. I am proud to be able to receive these instruments.”
